Steve Ogle

Steve Ogle

Steve Ogle is a skier and photographer based in Nelson, BC who carries a simple portfolio of passions with him into the mountains. Aside from his love for skiing, he says he also enjoys getting ready to go skiing, après skiing, and to a certain extent, photographing other skiers having all the fun. But he’s mostly in it for the skiing itself. Otherwise, Steve is one of those nature freaks who has learned to call in squirrels to his hand and feels at one with the mountains—that sort of thing. Basically, what you'd expect from a Kootenay guy.

For over half my 58 years I’ve photographed and written about skiing and ski mountaineering, much of it for Powder magazine. It’s been my pleasure and good fortune to travel in the world’s mountains – including the summits of four of its tallest peaks – with friends intent on capturing the adventure of ski-touring, alpine climbing, and ski descent. Just one of the many gratifications such journeys provide is working with the indigenous peoples of remote locales, and in the process, learning something of their culture and becoming their friends.
